A 10-year-old boy was taken to hospital last night following a disturbance in the Mastrick area of Aberdeen last night.
At around 8.15pm, police responded to reports of a melee near to Tesco on Lang Stracht involving around 15 youngsters aged between 10 and 14.
As a result, the 10-year-old boy received facial injuries and was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.
Police say the incident led to further smaller altercations in the area.
Inspector Kevin Wallace said: “We are currently responding to a number of reports from members of the public regarding these incidents and would appeal for any witnesses to contact us on 101. Enquiries are at an early stage and as yet no one has been arrested or charged.
“Incidents of this nature are rare and we would urge the public to pass on any information and allow us to investigate.”
