Hurricane Gonzalo closes Fraserburgh museum

High winds have caused the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses in Fraserburgh to close its doors today due to safety fears.

The attraction at Quarry Road announced this morning that its usual guided tours of Kinnaird Head lighthouse and cafe would be suspended today.

A spokesman said: “From a health and safety perspective we unfortunately have no option.”

Gary Campbell, the museum’s business manager, described the weather as “wild.”

Last year, the museum measured a record wind speed of just under 91mph at the top of the lighthouse.

Bosses are currently holding a photography competition asking locals to capture images of stormy scenes.
