Two people have been arrested in connection with a disturbance on Balnagask Road in Torry.
A 22-year-old man suffered serious injuries and is currently in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
His condition has been described as stable.
Officers were called to the incident at around 7.30pm on Tuesday.
They arrested a 32-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman and are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A police spokesman said: “We were called around 7.30pm on Tuesday, January 11 to a report of a disturbance in the Balnagask Road area of Aberdeen.
“A 22-year-old man sustained serious injuries and was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment and is described as being in a stable condition.
“A 32-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman have been arrested and inquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances.”
Road closed
Balnagask Road was closed while police inquiries were ongoing, but reopened at about 1pm today.
On Tuesday night, reports suggested there were around six police vehicles at the scene along with an ambulance.
Witnesses said they had seen police officers going door to door and had heard sirens earlier in the evening.
