A food drive to help homeless people in Aberdeen will return to the city later this year.
The Rucksack Project calls on people to fill a rucksack with items which would be useful to a homeless person – for example, a thermos flask or blanket – and they are then distributed.
This year will be the second year, the project has been held in the city.
The venture is a partnership between the Aberdeen Cyrenians and north-east woman Amber Sebold.
Mintlaw resident, and mother-of-three, Mrs Sebold, 31, said: “Even if people don’t have every item on the list, we’re encouraging them to donate.
“It’s not a case of trying to get people to spend a lot of money, it’s more about donating items you have, but don’t need.
“So often we donate money to charity and we have no idea where it’s going.
“With this project, you know where the money is going and you can see the good it’s doing.”
On December 6, volunteers will be collecting donations at the Cyrenians’ base on Summer Street.
The donations will be given out to those homeless people who claim them and any left-overs will be kept by the charity.
Mrs Sebold, who also offers free relaxation sessions to pregnant mothers in the north-east, continued: “Last year we got great feedback from the homeless people who used the service.
“Because we give out a list of what is needed, it’s much more effective, rather than having hundreds of the same item that people donate.”
