An Aberdeen city centre unit considered for a steak house by the chef behind Six by Nico has gone back on the market.
The unit within The Academy, at the top of Belmont Street, had been earmarked for development by the Six by Nico Group, headed up by Scots chef Nico Simeone.
The space – formerly Jack Wills, and a pub, The Hogshead – would have been known as Chateaux X.
Six by Nico Group obtained planning permission to develop the unit last June and also included the name, Chateaux X.
Unit 13 is back on the market
In the documents that came with the new approval, Aberdeen planning chiefs said the project, within Unit 13 of The Academy, would bring “increased viability and vitality within the city centre”.
However, the unit has now been put back on the market which was confirmed by agent James Morrison, who works for Shepherd Chartered Surveyors.
He posted the listing to his social media, which read that “due to abortive negotiations” they were “unexpectedly” putting Unit 13 back on the market.
The post adds: “The 7,544 sq ft property is situated over ground and first floor with the ground floor having been granted class three consent.
“An incoming occupier would potentially benefit from 100% rates relief for the first 12 months via Fresh Start Rates Relief and interested parties should make their own enquires as to their eligibility.”
Although planning permission had been granted to the Six by Nico Group, it was never confirmed by the company that Chateaux X would indeed go ahead with redeveloping the site.
A spokesman at Sixco group said: “As one of Scotland’s fastest growing independent hospitality brands, the feasibility of expansion opportunities is always being scoped across the UK and Ireland.
“Sixco group remains committed to the Aberdeen market and our loyal customers who we love welcoming to the region’s flagship Six by Nico restaurant since opening on Union Street in spring 2022”.
