A shocked mum yesterday told how she went into labour with twins – after laughing so hard during a show by funnyman Lee Evans.
Kayleigh Taylor, 29, found herself in double trouble during the sell-out show at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
As she was just at the 30-week mark, she didn’t think her twin babies would come early.
Now she and husband Ross, 36, from Portlethen, Aberdeenshire, have had the last laugh and are now proud parents to identical boys Reece and Riley.
A first aid team dashed to help Mrs Taylor at the show on Tuesday night. Her husband quickly realised something was amiss when she hadn’t returned from the bathroom.
He said: “When she didn’t come back I went to find her. All I could see was the doctor and staff running about and it turned out she was in labour.”
Mr Taylor made it to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where the couple welcomed their twin boys six weeks early.
Support engineer Mr Taylor said: “It was quite worrying because we were only at 30 weeks but everything is okay now. They arrived at 2.30am weighing 3lbs each. They are in the special care unit and will be there for four or five weeks.
“They are so small but are in a really good place, getting round-the-clock care.”
The couple, who married in March 2012, conceived through IVF treatment. Mr Taylor said: “We used one embryo egg, which split so we know the boys are going to be identical.”
Mrs Taylor said the unexpected labour went well and will give her a story to tell for years to come. She said: “It will be a great story to tell the boys and our grandchildren.
“People have been saying we should call them Lee and Evans but I think we’ll stick to the names we have.”
