Stagecoach North Scotland is calling on budding artists to design a new version of the famous Bluebird logo which features across all of the firm’s buses.
Since the introduction of the emblem, there have only ever been two variations – the first featuring the invitation “Catch the Bluebird”, and the second introducing the “Discover the Bluebird” motto eight years ago.
Steve Walker, Stagecoach’s managing director for the north of Scotland, said: “The original Bluebird was a familiar sight in the north and north-east of Scotland and was held in great affection by bus passengers.
“We are looking for something which will represent Stagecoach Bluebird in the future; a good reliable service which is a vital part of the region’s public transport infrastructure delivered by a modern fleet of coaches.
“There is a huge wealth of design talent in Aberdeen and the north-east and I’m really looking forward to seeing what they produce.”
The winner will receive a cash prize of £1,000 – and the pleasure of seeing their design in action on roads across the region.
The first buses to carry the new Bluebird design will be those operating on the Service 35 (Aberdeen to Elgin) route next October.
