Colleagues of electrician Barry Comrie, who died after collapsing at P&J Live aged just 38, are to compete in a football tournament in his memory.
For the team, who will play in Aberdeen Business Fives next month, it will a form of send off and closure from his workmates at CBRE Aberdeen.
The eight players will also raise funds for Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance, which was first on the scene when Barry collapsed, said John Sinclair alliance director at CBRE.
Tribute strip
“It was the Cormie family’s chosen charity and the players will turn out in the tops of Liverpool, Barry’s team,” said John.
Barry, a father of two, was a football player all his life and used to organise five-a-side matches for his colleagues.
He suffered a heart attack while at work on December 21 last year. Air ambulance paramedics tried to revive Barry before he was transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he died later that day.
Donations
A JustGiving page has been set up with the aim of raising £500 but £320 in donations has been made so far.
All the players in the CBRE team at the event, which will take place at Goals, Inverdee playing fields, Aberdeen, on February 18, had worked with Barry.
CBE business development manager Russell Mair said: “The tournament is a fitting tribute for us to remember Barry as a fantastic friend and colleague.
“Having worked on site since P&J Live opened, Barry was an extremely popular member of the team, not only within the CBRE community but also with our client.
Respected
“Barry was a well-respected colleague and an extremely dedicated employee.”
Businesses from around the north-east have entered teams into the tournament which kicks off at 3pm.
There will be two hours of football followed by an early evening drinks reception and buffet.
Speakers on the night will include former players Jim Leighton, Neil Simpson, Lee Mair and Fraser Fyvie.
