A pensioner who was knocked down on an Aberdeenshire road by a mum on the school run has died.
The 82-year-old was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary yesterday afternoon following the accident on King Street, Inverbervie, which involved a black Audi A3.
Police have now confirmed that he has died.
Inspector Ian Kirkwood, of the Road Policing Department, has appealed for any information that can help piece together the moments leading up to the tragic accident.
“Following the collision, a team of officers were deployed in Inverbervie and a number of witnesses were spoken to,” he said.
“I would ask for anyone who witnessed the collision and left without providing their details to contact us on 101 and a police officer will contact them to see if they have any information which could be of assistance to us.
“As a result of the collision the A92 through Inverbervie was closed for around 5 hours whilst collision investigation work was carried out.
“I realise that this caused traffic delays and am grateful to motorists for their patience.”
