The accident, involving a red, Volkswagen Caddy van and a blue Vauxhall Corsa, occurred just after 6pm on the A980 between Tornaveen and Lumphanan. Fire crews, from Aboyne and Banchory, had to cut one of the drivers out of his vehicle because he had sustained back injuries. The Press and Journal understands he is being taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary as a precaution. The other driver was uninjured. Police are at the scene waiting for the vehicles to be uplifted.
