Family-owned restaurant No 1 Bar and Grill in the west end of Aberdeen has closed with “immediate effect”
The Queens Terrace firm said it had made the “sensible” decision, and was making a choice rather than being forced into receivership.
The business had re-opened in May 2021 after the pandemic, but said without the festive boost due to Covid, the owners have decided to close.
The dog-friendly business served food with a Scottish flair using locally sourced meat and fish with a great plant-based menu.
‘It is with great regret’
In a statement on its social media page owners said: “It is with great regret and heavy hearts that we have decided to close No 1 Bar and Grill with immediate effect.
“Since we re-opened in May 2021 trade has been improving but the ‘loss’ of the festive period 2021 has been painful and we have decided that at this point in time it is more sensible to be closed.
“We hope that as normality returns in the future we will return.”
The post continued: “We are not in receivership or administration and will be paying all suppliers and debtors and thank them for their support.
“We are currently contacting our bookings, please bear with us if we haven’t been able to contact you yet, but all bookings are now cancelled.”
Thank you to the ‘wonderful team’
It added: “A huge thank you to the wonderful team at No 1 who have done the best possible job of creating great food and looking after our customers, and finally, a massive thank you to all the lovely customers who have supported No 1 in recent years.”
Supporters of No 1 Bar and Grill in Aberdeen took to Facebook to share their disappointment at the news.
One saying: “Devastated to hear this. Hope we see you guys back in the future. Going to miss coming in and seeing you all and of course the fab food.”
