A terrified 16-year-old girl was attacked by two older teenage boys on an Aberdeen street while she walked home.
Zoe Murphy was pushed to the ground by her attackers before they rifled through her pockets in the Summerhill area on Monday night.
The teenagers fled the scene and the shaken teenager eventually arrived home with scratches all down the side of her face.
The incident happened a short distance away from where 10-year-old Jamie Wood was attacked by a gang of teenage thugs three weeks ago.
Yesterday Zoe’s mum Deby Lyon appealed for help to track down her daughter’s attackers on a social media site.
She said: “Zoe was on her way back from her friends and was just jumped by two boys aged about 18 both dressed all in black.
“They said give us everything you’ve got or you’re getting it.
“She shouted for help and they pushed her to the ground and went through her pockets. This happened at 6pm by the phone box on Stronsay Drive and they ran off through the lane towards the junction at Summerhill Drive/Crescent.”
Mum Deby said her daughter was still shaken up but was now recovering from her ordeal at home. The concerned family contacted the police and the teenager gave a statement to officers last night.
Zoe was attacked a few streets away from where Jamie Wood was assaulted by a group of up to 15 older children on October 16.
The primary school pupil was attacked after he went to defend his friend who had been set upon by the gang on the city’s Lang Stracht.
The boys were walking home from a trip to the local Hazelhead swimming pool during the October holidays. Police are also investigating that incident.
Summerhill councillor David Cameron has condemned the two attacks and has called on anyone with information that could help police to come forward.
He said: “It’s dreadful that these children can’t go about their days without being attacked.
“I would ask anyone with any idea about who is responsible for both attacks, as it could be two separate groups, to tell police.
“People should be able to feel safe to walk the streets.”
