A concert highlighting the ongoing efforts of a local children’s charity will be held in Aberdeen later this month.
More than 50 performers will step into the spotlight for the Come Together variety show in aid of the Archie Foundation – the official charity of the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital.
Sam Young, executive producer of production firm Pepela, was inspired to organise an event that would show exactly what the charity does, while celebrating the difference it makes to thousands of sick youngsters across the north-east.
“I wanted to make something visual for the audience, that can help them emphasise with what a family is going through,” he said.
“It is all about the Archie Foundation and will represent what it is about. A lot of the songs are inspiring and uplifting, but there are also some hard-hitting ones. Whether we create new memories or bring back some old it is sure to be a special night.”
Around 25 dancers, accompanied by more than 30 performers, will take to the stage in the Aberdeen Arts centre for the event on May 18, which will begin at 7pm.
The concert will feature five different sections, which all link to the emotions experienced by a child and their family on their journey through hospital.
Claire Bush, community fundraising manager for the Archie Foundation, said: “The Come Together concert is a very imaginative fundraiser for our High 10 for Archie appeal and we are all looking forward to seeing it on May 18.
“I hear that there is a big demand for the tickets so anyone hoping to be there should book as soon as they can as seat numbers are limited. I know Sam and the team at Pepela are working really hard to make it a great evening and we are very grateful to them.”
Tickets for the event, which are available from Aberdeen Box Office, cost £22 for adults and £20 for concessions. All profits will go to the Archie Foundation.
