The man who died in a crash on the A90 near Fraserburgh yesterday afternoon has been named as Philips Bremner from Mintlaw.
Mr Bremner, 71, died when his silver Volkswagen Jetta collided with a black Nissan Qashqai around 3.15pm.
The 28-year-old male driver of the Nissan Qashqai sustained relatively minor injuries.
Sergeant Neil Morrison, Road Policing Department, said: “Losing a loved one in such a traumatic way is extremely harrowing and our thoughts are with Mr Bremner’s family at this difficult time.
“Enquiries are at a very early stage and I am extremely grateful to those motorists who stopped at the scene and offered assistance prior to the arrival of the emergency services.
“I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision and who has not yet come forward to do so as soon as possible.”
