The full, devastating impact of a massive fire on Braemar Lodge Hotel this morning has been revealed by new footage shot from a bird’s eye view.
Fire crews arrived at the scene of the blaze at 7.30am, and flames were still consuming the building several hours later.
Ultimately, the hotel – described as “iconic” and “the heart of the community” by locals – was completely gutted, with just its granite walls left standing.
The new footage, shot using a crane, captures eerie images of chimney stacks standing unsupported and surrounded by white smoke.
Firefighters are shown still dampening the hot, black remains of the collapsed building as steam rises from them.
Braemar was rocked by an explosion that was believed to have been caused by gas tanks not long after the fire started, blasting debris over the surrounding area including the local bowling green.
Nobody is believed to have been harmed in the incident.
