Police have revealed how they are now tackling “challenging” areas of land in the ongoing search for missing Fraserburgh man, Shaun Ritchie.
The 20-year-old has now been missing for four weeks.
Police Scotland have just released their latest appeal for information, and have said that specialist resources are continuing to be used by officers, include specialist searchers, the Police Scotland helicopter, the marine and dive unit, dog handlers and volunteers from mountain rescue teams.
Items of Shaun’s clothing were recovered as part of the early stages of the inquiry which would have placed Mr Ritchie in the Greenburn area.
It is possible that he may have become disorientated and sought shelter in the localised area, but officers have still been unable to trace him.
He was last seen after he had been for a night out in Fraserburgh on Friday, October 31.
Local Policing Inspector Simon Reid said: “We want to stress this is still a missing person inquiry.
“We have carried out detailed searches of the areas around where his clothing was found but it is difficult terrain and it will take us some time to complete this.
“It is now four weeks since he was last seen and we are increasingly concerned for his welfare.
“His family haven’t heard from him and that would be out of character. It is possible that he may have sought shelter so we would again appeal to people with outbuildings or sheds to check these and report anything unusual to us.”
