A charity concert by classical singer Russell Watson has raised almost £30,000 for a learning disability charity.
Lancashire -born tennor Mr Watson appeared at His Majesty’s Theatre in Aberdeen for a one-off show in August, and performed songs to a near sell-out crowd.
The singer, who was accompanied by the Aberdeen Sinfonietta and Con Anima chamber choir, performed songs from musicals such as Les Miserables and his first performance of Flower of Scotland to a Scottish crowd.
The cash raised by the event, organised by the Lord Provost’s Charitable Trust, will go towards Cornerstone, a charity that provides services for more than 2,200 children and adults with disabilities across Scotland every year.
Lord Provost George Adam said: “This was a very special one-off concert for the trust and I am delighted that so much money was raised for Cornerstone, through ticket sales and additional generous donations on the night.”
