An Aberdeen city centre street could be closed to traffic at weekends to help keep revellers safe.
Plans have been proposed to shut Windmill Brae from Crown Street to Bridge Street while clubs are open on Friday and Saturday nights.
The move comes amid concerns drivers are endangering pedestrians leaving bars and clubs.
Councillor Graham Dickson, whose Ferryhill ward covers Windmill Brae and who is heading up the plan, said the road block could be extended if the weekend closure is a success.
“It is for the safety of the general public and people on the street in that area in the early hours of the morning,” he said.
“There are a lot of people in and out of clubs and cars quite often driving very fast down that side of the road to miss out some traffic lights.”
Inspector David Howieson of Police Scotland confirmed the force would support anything that contributes to increasing the safety of the city centre.
