A drink-driving care home worker has been banned from the roads after being caught while twice the alcohol legal limit.
Ganiyu Rufai, 33, was stopped on Commercial Street, Aberdeen, when door staff reported him to police.
Upon being breath tested Rufai gave a reading of 44 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 22mg.
His solicitor Michael Burnett said that his client accepted that “this situation is all of his own making”.
Rufai, of Gray Street, Aberdeen, was fined £355 and disqualified from driving for one year.
HGV driver admits striking 11-year-old who jumped on bonnet of his car
An HGV driver has been fined after he hit an 11-year-old boy who jumped on the bonnet of his car.
Ivars Brencevs, 43, struck the child twice and held him up against a wall on Sillerton Lane, Aberdeen, when the boy refused to stop jumping on his vehicle’s rear bumper and bonnet.
Defence agent Ian Woodward-Nutt told Aberdeen’s Justice of the Peace court that the child had been “running amok” on Brencevs’ car.
However, he added that his client admitted that “slapping” the boy was “the wrong decision”.
Brencevs was fined £170.
Supermarket worker fined for driving e-scooter without insurance
A supermarket worker has been handed a fine and penalty points after he drove an e-scooter through the streets of Aberdeen without the proper insurance.
Rygzard Gogolkiewicz, 51, was stopped by police while driving the scooter on Shoe Lane, Aberdeen, on August 24 last year and was found not to have the licence required to drive the vehicle on a public road or any insurance.
His solicitor Debbie Ginniver told the court that Gogolkiewicz had bought the scooter on eBay and “didn’t realise it was under the same stipulations as a car”.
Gogolkiewicz, of Martins Lane, Aberdeen, was fined £355 and handed six penalty points by the Justice of the Peace Court.
Delivery driver admits speeding on A92
A delivery driver who admitted speeding on the A92 claimed he was “unlucky” to be caught.
Artur Janowicz, 43, was captured by a road safety camera driving at 71mph in a 60mph limit on the A92 from Stonehaven to Aberdeen on May 22 last year.
The delivery driver, who works for delivery firm DPD and runs his own courier business, admitted driving over the speed limit but said he thought he had been “unlucky”.
Janowicz, of Belmont Gardens, Aberdeen, was fined £285 and given four penalty points on his licence.
Argument over dog mess leads to fine
An argument over dog poo between neighbours has landed one Aberdeen man with a fine.
Joss Reid, 30, admitted being abusive towards his 71-year-old neighbour on March 5 last year when quizzed about dog mess that had been left on the pavement on Mansfield Place in Aberdeen.
Reid then told the pensioner he would “slit” her throat.
Defence agent Debbie Ginniver told the court that her client “accepted this was highly unacceptable conduct”.
Reid, of Glenbervie Road, Aberdeen, was fined £150.
Man disqualified from driving after being caught with no insurance
A Stonehaven man has been banned from driving after he was found behind the wheel with no insurance.
Jordan Watson, 21, was asked by police to produce his insurance policy following a road traffic collision on the A944 Westhill to Kingswells road on December 28 last year.
When he wasn’t able to provide the relevant paperwork he was cautioned and charged by police.
Watson, of Redcloack Crescent, Stonehaven, admitted the charge and was fined £360, given six penalty points and disqualified from driving for six months.
Six penalty points after driving without insurance
Another man appeared in the Justice of the Peace Court after he was caught driving in Aberdeen without insurance.
Marian Barbuntoiu was stopped by police on Rosemount Viaduct just after midnight on September 21 last year.
Barbuntoiu told the court he did have insurance but was driving a friend’s car for which the policy was not linked to.
The 21-year-old, of Hardgate, Aberdeen, was fined £160 and handed six penalty points.
Accident leads police to discover driver only has a provisional licence
A road traffic accident was the undoing of a 23-year-old Aberdeen woman when police realised she did not have a full driver’s licence.
Ellen Braithwaite was involved in an accident and was asked to produce a driver’s licence but she only had a provisional.
Despite having a relative with her the police noticed Braithwaite was also driving without learner driver plates.
She was fined £110 and handed three penalty points.
