Today’s NHS Grampian meeting will be the first since a series of reports into care at two hospitals were released earlier this week.
The board members are set to discuss a report by Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS) following a review of quality and safety at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
They will also discuss the findings of an unannounced HIS inspection of care for the elderly at ARI and at Woodend Hospital.
A separate review from the Royal College of Surgeons in England which looked at general surgery service will also be discussed.
In their report, HIS said it was “overwhelmingly evident” there was potential for patient care and safety to be compromised by issues including weak leadership, low morale and poor relations between consultants and executives.
The health board has been asked to “endorse the recommendations” of all three reports and will look into development of an improvement plan.
It comes as it was revealed NHS Grampian had been advertising for doctors from across the globe to work in the north-east.
NHS Grampian is seeking radiologist consultants in Greece, Italy, the Netherlands and psychiatric consultants in nine countries including New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and India.
