A Christmas light switch-on in an Aberdeenshire village has been cancelled following the death of a young boy.
Organisers of the event in Portsoy, which was due to take place tomorrow night, have decided not to go ahead with the event after an eight-year-old boy was killed when he was hit by a van on Seafield Street.
Portsoy 75 Club chairman, Ashley Goodbrand, said: “Following the tragic road accident in Portsoy, the Christmas Light Switch On celebrations scheduled for tonight have been cancelled.
“The action was taken out of respect for the family and friends of the child.”
