Aberdeen City Council has come in for criticism for its delays in producing an autism strategy.
The council was given £35,000 of funds in the 2012/13 financial year to assist in the development of a local strategy for the development disorder, which was due in March this year.
The local strategy’s aim was to co-ordinate services for people with autism including development and diagnoses programmes.
Aberdeen Donside SNP MSP Mark McDonald said: “Despite receiving funding for a strategy over two years ago, there has been no published strategy.
“The council needs to set a firm commitment to delivering a strategy as soon as possible which will then drive improvements in services.”
Council leader councillor Jenny Laing responded: “Last Tuesday we had an education meeting which had an inclusion review into autism.
“We believe it was right to wait a year, we brought in experts before we went ahead with strategies.”
