Woman killed in Aberdeenshire crash

A woman has died and a man seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash near Toll of Birness this morning.

Police, ambulance crews and firefighters were called to the scene just after 7.30am.

The incident happened on the A952 roughly a mile north of the Toll of Birness junction with the A90.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “We can confirm there is one female fatality.

“One seriously injured male has been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.”

The female victim of the crash was in a white Vauxhall Corsa which collided with a silver Volvo estate.

The road is currently closed to all traffic while police carry out an investigation.
