A lifeboat crew have been called in to assist with the search for a missing Huntly man.
Martin Thomson, 62, disappeared from his home town on Wednesday and police had initially focused their search there.
But on Friday, his black Mitsubishi Shogun was discovered in the coastal village of Gardenstown, 30 miles from Huntly.
The find prompted search teams to relocate their operations and on Friday police officers and dogs were joined by an RAF helicopter and a 12-strong coastguard team.
However, yesterday the search was extended again with the Macduff lifeboat joining the search.
The lifeboat spent the entire day searching for Mr Thomson, first focusing their efforts on a coastline search from Old Haven east to Pennan Head.
The four man crew then spent the afternoon searching Gamrie Bay until the search was called off for the day at around 5.30pm.
