A child and two motorists have been injured in a two vehicle crash on one of the north-east’s busiest commuter routes.
The incident happened on the A90 Aberdeen to Peterhead road at its junction with the B9000 Newburgh road at around 4.30pm.
Two fire teams were called from Ellon along with police and two ambulances following the incident between a black Honda Civic and a red Nissan Pixo saloon.
The drivers of both vehicles – including one woman – have been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with “non life-threatening injuries”.
Police officers have set up a contraflow lane around the vehicles on the southbound lane of the A90 with traffic northbound said to be “very heavy”.
A police spokesman said: “A passing motorist told Police Scotland about a two vehicle road traffic collision. Police have responded and there is a contraflow in place around the accident.
“The driver’s of both vehicles have been taken to ARI as a precaution.”
A fire and rescue spokeswoman said: “We got the call from the police who said there might have been someone trapped but there was no body trapped. We just made the vehicles safe. We got the call at 4.40pm.”
