Athletes, fun runners and fundraisers tackle Run Garioch

Hundreds of runners have taken to the streets of Inverurie to mark the return of Run Garioch.

Elated spectators lined the course to cheer on participants taking part in this year’s flagship 10K, the 5K, half marathon and junior events.

It marked the long-awaited return of the the popular race in person.

Last year organisers held an online community-focused event, encouraging participants to run their race distance at a time and location of their choosing due to the pandemic.

Rosa Donaldson from Glasgow University was the first female to cross the finish line in the Run Garioch half-marathon.

Fellow runner Jason Kelly secured first place in the men’s half-marathon.

Meanwhile, Nicola MacDonald and Aaron Odentz secured first place in the female and male’s 10k race.

Aaron Odentz also came first in the 5k alongside Chloe Gray.

Pictures from the event show delighted participants crossing the finish line to huge applause from friends, family and the local community.
