Inverurie to Aberdeen car chase: Ten people due up in court

Ten people are expected to appear in court today after a crackdown on car crime in the north-east, which led to a dramatic car chase.
Two 21-year-old men, a 17-year-old boy, two 16-year-old girls and a 23-year-old woman have been charged in connection with the operation, carried out in Aberdeen and Inverurie on Friday.
Police used a helicopter to help them recover a stolen BMW X5, an Audi Q5 and an A1 and a Volkswagen Golf.
The BMW was recovered at Inverurie Railway Station, where it had been driven down the platform in a desperate bid to escape.
Another four boys, including one aged 14, have been reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with the theft of a BMW 1 Series, which was stolen from the Bridge of Don area on Saturday.
The 17-year-old, two 16-year-olds and 14-year-old are expected to appear in court today also.
Detective Chief Inspector David Hadden, said: “As a result of ongoing operations in the north-east a number of people have been brought into custody.
“We would like to thank members of the public for their support but would urge them to remain vigilant and think about their personal security.”
