Three huge boxes overflowing with toys have been donated to the Archie Foundation to brighten up Christmas for the youngsters at the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital.
Ewan and Anabela Ferguson, who own Aberdeen-based firm Thistle Couriers, have donated nearly £1,500 worth of toys.
The firm help the Archie Foundation throughout the year by offering the charity free shipments around the country, but with the coming of the festive season Mr and Mrs Ferguson decided to go the extra mile.
The toys were specially selected for the children by Archie fundraising manager Claire Bush, who picked out toys to meet the needs of the hospital’s young patients.
Mr Ferguson, 38, said: “The way we first got involved with Archie was Anabela spotting the charity on Facebook.
“I noticed that a woman at Archie was wanting something delivered, and I thought ‘well they’re going to have to spend time and money taking it to the post office and getting it posted’, so I thought that we’ve got a solution to give them time to do a little bit more for the kids at the hospital.
“So we got in touch, set them up as we would with any other client, but they just don’t receive any bills at the end of the month.”
Mrs Ferguson said: “At Christmas time we give all our customers a gifts a way of saying thank you for supporting us throughout the year, but this year I decided it would be nice to do something different.
“So I’m sure that our customers will be very pleased to find out that instead of buying them a bottle of wine or whatever, we are actually doing something that will hopefully make a difference for the children for the year to come.”
Ms Bush said: “It’s going to make a huge difference. Play is one of the biggest areas in a children’s hospital. There’s play departments all over the hospital, in the operating theatres, accident and emergency, it’s a really important part of a child’s treatment and we can’t thank Thistle Couriers enough for this extremely generous gift.”
