An 18-year-old is in life-threatening condition after being hit by a van on the Aberdeen bypass.
The accident happened at about 2am today, near the A944 Alford, Westhill and Kingswells slip road.
It involved a white Mercedes Sprinter van and a pedestrian.
A police spokesman confirmed a male pedestrian was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and is in critical condition.
The A90 southbound between Kingswells North and Kingswells South was closed for around 12 hours while a collision inspection was carried out.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses following the accident.
Sergeant Steve Manson, from the roads policing unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the crash or who may have seen either the pedestrian or the vehicle prior to the incident to get in touch.
“I would also ask anyone with dashcam footage that may assist our investigation to contact us.”
