The Met Office has not yet ruled out the possibility of a white Christmas for the north-east of Scotland, despite reports much of the country would miss out on the prized wintry conditions.
A cold spell is set to hit the UK on Christmas Day, starting in the north and heading south, which could bring with it dustings of snow.
Met Office spokeswoman, Laura Young, said: “You have got this cold air mass moving down north to south, covering the whole country by Christmas Day morning.
“We’re expecting some cold, wintry showers on Christmas day. It will fall as snow on higher ground.
“Aberdeenshire is quite a cold area and it all depends on how many showers you get. It will still be very cold. Below average temperatures. I am not ruling out snow yet for you guys.”
White Christmas still a possibility for the north-east of Scotland
