An offshore worker has been airlifted to hospital after being hit on the head by a falling object.
The 57-year-old man was working on the Murchison platform, about 123 miles north-east of Shetland, when he was reportedly hit on the head by a falling pipe or hose.
Shetland Coastguard sent a rescue helicopter to the platform, and he was airlifted to Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick.
It is understood he suffered head and rib injuries, but it is not known how serious his condition is.
A spokeswoman for CNR International (UK) Ltd, who operate the platform, said: “CNR International (UK) Ltd can confirm that one person was injured during routine deck activities on the Murchison platform at approximately 8am today.
“As a result, the decision was taken to transfer the individual by helicopter to hospital in Shetland for medical assessment.”
The coastguard helicopter was already out on another job when the call was received at about 8am.
Fishing vessel the Floreat called for assistance after its nets got caught in an underwater crossover in the Faroe Channel.
Lerwick lifeboat and a nearby fishing vessel, the Mermaid Endurer, went to assist, along with the helicopter.
However, the aircraft was then dispatched to the CNR International-operated Murchison platform while the lifeboat began towing the fishing boat to Lerwick Harbour.
It arrived safely at about 1pm.
