Award-winning local author Stuart MacBride has announced that he will launch his latest book in the north-east next month.
The Missing and the Dead, the latest in the Detective Inspector Logan MacRae series, is set in Banffshire, with the rugged coastline providing the “perfect setting” for a grizzly crime.
Mr MacBride, who lives in Oldmeldrum, said the chance to visit Banff to launch the book was something he could not turn down.
He said: “I’m really looking forward to doing a launch event in Banff. I spent quite a bit of time in the area while I was writing The Missing and the Dead – that section of coast is very dramatic, the perfect setting for a crime novel – and one of my favourite bits of Scotland as well.”
The free event, which includes a talk, will be held at Banff Academy on Friday, January 16 at 6.30pm.
Sarah Crowe, Aberdeenshire Council’s town centre project officer, said she was delighted the author had agreed to visit Banff to talk about his latest work.
She added: “Stuart is a fantastic author and I hope that as many people as possible are able to attend what should be an interesting and informative event.”
The book follows Logan and his team as they piece together what happened to a young girl who is washed up on a beach just outside Banff.
