A man has died following a one vehicle accident on a north-east road.
Police and ambulance teams were called to the B9170 between New Deer and Cuminestown just after 9.20am this morning.
The road will remain closed for some time.
It is understood the victim is in his 20s, and he was performing maintenance on the side of the road when the crash took place.
A police spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that officers are currently in attendance at a fatal road traffic collision on the B9170 Cuminestown to New Deer road.
“The collision happened at around 9.21am today and sadly a male has died as a result.
“The road has been closed and is likely to remain shut for some time to allow for collision investigation.”
