Shetland Coastguard got the call from the Bruce Platform, 240 miles north-east of Aberdeen just after 8pm. They deployed their helicopter, Rescue-102, to pick up the worker and transfer him to Shetland’s Gilbert Bain Hospital. A spokesman for the coastguard said he had “suspected pneumonia”. He added: “We got the call at 8.10pm from the Bruce platform. He’s being taken to Shetland for treatment.” They are expected to arrive in Shetland at around 10pm.
