Dozens of people lined the streets of Peterhead to bid a final farewell to a “one-in-a-million” mum, wife and businesswoman.
Wendy Haggath, who set up the Symposium Coffee with her husband Paul, died in her sleep last week, aged just 42.
Today, family, friends and loyal customers flooded the pavements outside Symposium Coffee on Queen Street to pay tribute to the woman with a “huge heart” and an “amazing smile”.
Over the last 17 years, Mr and Mrs Haggath had created a successful chain of coffee shops – with 10 branches across Aberdeenshire including Fraserburgh, Portsoy and Ellon.
All coffee houses are closed today as a mark of respect to the mother-of-four.
Her funeral cortege passed through Peterhead, passing through Balmoor Terrace before going onto Queen Street and pausing outside the coffee shop.
‘Wonderful, compassionate, fun and loving’
As the procession went by, people embraced in a moment of “heartbreak”.
A hearse with the words “loved mum”, which had been carefully crafted with flowers, passed by the cafe, followed by Mr Haggath and daughters Imogen, Olivia, Ava and Ellie.
A celebration of her life is being held at Apex Church.
Mrs Haggath has been hailed as an “inspiring, beautiful soul” who was always “unbelievably kind” to people and loved her family dearly.
Paying tribute last week, Mr Haggath said: “She will be remembered as the woman who raised four girls to be independent, kind and clever – who loved her very much.
“Wendy had many strengths. To name a few: she was composed under pressure, great at putting ideas into motion, she was a good starter and visionary, good at delegation, organising and she was charitable and kind.
“And she was more than that – she was a force of nature, a whirlwind of energy and ideas, who caught everyone up in her enthusiasm.
“Wendy was a beautiful person, someone people loved to be with.”
