A north-east family woke up on Christmas Eve to find heartless thieves had made off with hundreds of pounds worth of presents.
Police have issued an appeal for information in the days after the theft in Craigton Crescent, Peterculter.
The callous act is believed to have taken place between 10pm on Tuesday and 8am on Christmas Eve when toys worth a three-figure sum were stolen.
Officers conducted door-to-door inquiries in the block of flats where the family live throughout Wednesday, but as yet have not found suspects.
Neighbours of the family believe the toys were taken from a car, which had been broken into.
The family declined to comment on their loss.
One of the officers investigating the theft, PC Cameron Griffiths, said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to help us with our inquiries.
“Understandably, the victim has been left extremely upset by the theft just a day before Christmas.”
Lower Deeside councillor Marie Boulton has called the suspects the “lowest of the low”.
She said: “It is not nice having anything from you but for children to have their presents stolen, it is almost like stealing Christmas memories from them.
“It is bad enough being a victim of theft at any time of the year, but to target children at this time of year really is the lowest of the low. I hope the police catch whoever is responsible.”
Meanwhile, police in Aberdeenshire are investigating a break-in and theft at a home which took place on Christmas Day.
A personal item and cash worth hundreds of pounds were stolen from a property at Hallgreen Road, Inverbervie.
Officers say the break-in happened some time during the afternoon.
Police are urging anyone with information on either crime to contact them on 101 or Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
