A young father-of-one who died in a tragic road accident on Christmas Eve is to be laid to rest on Wednesday.
Fraser Gibbon, 20, was fatally injured during a collision involving a green mini-loader and dark red Vauxhall Insignia near Cuminestown in Aberdeenshire.
Despite the best efforts of medics who rushed to save the young man, he sadly died from his injuries at the side of the B9170 road – just yards from the family home at West Cairncake.
He is survived by his mother Anne, father Donald, three sisters and his young daughter Keira.
In the aftermath of the accident his family paid tribute to their “gentle giant” who was tragically taken from them at Christmas.
The family said: “Fraser was ripped from our lives and has left a massive hole that can never be filled.
“Fraser was described by all who knew him as a gentle giant, very much a family person who would do anything for anyone.
“He was a proud father, a doting uncle to two nieces and brother to three sisters who all loved him dearly.
“He was the precious and deeply loved only son of Anne and Donald, and has been taken from us far too soon.”
Emergency services were called to the the B9170 Cuminestown to New Deer road around 9.20am on December 24.
Paramedics and an attending doctor found Mr Gibbon seriously injured at the roadside, where it is believed he had been working at the time of the accident.
But there was nothing medics could do to save him and he died at the scene.
One other male was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
Mr Gibbon’s funeral service will take place in Fyvie Parish Church on Wednesday.
