A consultant, who was taken to hospital after suffering an electric shock from malfunctioning medical equipment, has been discharged.
The Press and Journal revealed earlier today a patient and consultant were transferred to other hospitals following the incident at the Jubilee Hospital in Huntly on Wednesday afternoon.
The consultant was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI), while the patient was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin for treatment and released later.
NHS Grampian confirmed this afternoon the consultant has now left ARI.
The health board has refused to say what type of equipment was involved or whether it was an isolated incident but says an inquiry into the accident is ongoing.
Dr Jean Turner – the former executive director of the Scotland Patients Association – has called for the findings of the investigation to be made public.
The accident comes in a week when NHS Grampian has been forced to postpone dozens of appointments and had to deny allegations from patients that its flagship hospital had run out of mattresses.
