It has emerged that the owner of the dog abandoned at Ayr train station is a 39-year-old woman from Aberdeenshire.
Kai, the dog found tied to a railing with a suitcase of his belongings became a huge online hit as people questioned why he had been left and offered to give him a new home.
However, Fin Rayner from Pitmedden has now been identified as the dog’s owner who left him at the station and has explained the dog was abandoned after his sale went wrong.
People from across the world have offered to re-home Kai, however, Ms Rayner has said she was expecting to buy another dog, she never wanted Kai in the first place and that is why she left him at the station.
Kai has been cared for by the Scottish SPCA since he was found on January 2.
