Dyce fast food fans could soon be in for a treat – with plans to open a Domino’s next door to the new Gregg’s.
The new pizza parlour would set up shop in the former Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) on Burnside Drive, in a space which has been empty since it closed in 2018.
It would mean going from one sort of dough to another altogether for the long-empty unit.
How will former Dyce RBS become Dominos?
A planning application has been lodged with Aberdeen City Council seeking permission to install the famous Dominos signage at the Dyce building.
Blueprints reveal how the building would be altered, with a customer service area at the front and space set aside for a “slap table” for workers to shape dough.
There would also be a freezer for ice cream and a “cut table” to carve up the cheesy slices.
Planning wrangle held up Dyce RBS transformation
There was outcry when RBS closed its Dyce branch four years ago.
In May 2019, plans were formed to divide the building into the Greggs now operating there and a “hot food takeaway”.
Those plans were approved that September – but with some conditions.
And by May 2020, developer Sava Estates was growing frustrated at its inability to offload the premises due to one stipulation.
They bemoaned rules limiting trading to between 7am and 10pm, saying they had discouraged one prospective tenant.

Dyce Domino’s could open soon
This June, studies inspecting how noise from the venue would affect nearby residents were rubber-stamped by the council.
Experts Impact Acoustics determined there would be a “low adverse impact”, which could pave the way towards longer hours for Dominos.
The building sits next to the old BP headquarters site, which is now home to hundreds of new flats and houses.
