Snow, ice and wind is expected to hit the north-east today and tomorrow.
Strong winds will move into Aberdeen city and shire tomorrow, and the Met Office are warning of treacherous road conditions.
Forecasters issued a yellow “be aware” warning for ice on routes tomorrow morning.
Snow showers are also likely to continue in Aberdeenshire’s most western regions, with temperatures inland hovering at around 1C and coastal regions facing strong winds of up to 60mph.
Wintry conditions will continue in Braemar, which has been covered in snow for the past week, with temperatures dropping to -1C on Friday.
Met Office spokesman Dan Williams, said: “There will be snow showers over higher ground, over the hills and mountains and some showers around.
“It is pretty strong winds during the day Thursday, that’s definitely something to bear in mind.
“The wind is certainly going to be strong along coastal areas, particularly the more exposed coast. Winds are coming from the south and south-west with a bit of sleet inland.
“Peterhead being a little bit more exposed could see the strongest gusts of 50-60mph.”
“Wind gusts are going to be fairly strong, but not quite in the warning areas where there’s gusts of maybe 80mph and more.”
Although some bright spells are expected on Friday, cold temperatures are likely to continue, and there will be some windy showers.
Mr Williams added: “Temperatures drop a little bit for Friday, top temperatures are 2C in coastal areas. Cold spots like Braemar might struggle to get above -1C on Friday and don’t change too much.
“A lot of these showers are struggling to get over the mountains, there’s the odd flurry here and there.”
Although most of the north-east has so far missed the worst of the snow, there was still some travel disruption yesterday.
Drifting snow prolonged the closures of both the A93 Braemar to Blairgowrie road at Glenshee road and the B974 Banchory to Fettercairn – Cairn O’ Mount – road yesterday.
A police warning was also issued for the A939 Ballatar to Tomintoul road around Corgarff due to snow.
A total of 16 flights between Aberdeen and Shetland were also cancelled. An airport spokeswoman said cancellations were all weather related.
