The family of a mystery man who is critically ill in an Aberdeen hospital, have been found.
The man, believed to be in his 50s, was discovered on Denburn Road last Friday after falling from Union Bridge.
Earlier this week, police had released an artist’s impression in a bid to find the man’s next of kin, and earlier today confirmed they had been notified.
The north-east man, who has not been named at this stage, remains in a critical condition in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
The incident prompted renewed calls to increase the height of the bridge’s existing parapet.
Plans to install a permanent barrier on the northern side of Union Street were unanimously backed by city councillors in 2013.
However, plans for the safety barrier were withdrawn last summer.
