Emeli Sande has backed Aberdeen’s bid to host the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest.
The Alford singer said the city and the event would be a “perfect match” – and that if it does she will “definitely” be there watching.
Aberdeen threw its hat into the ring after it was announced Eurovision 2023 would be held in the UK.
When asked what she thought of the competition making its way to the Granite City, Ms Sande said: “I think that would be a perfect match because they have the new arena there and that’s huge.”
She is no stranger to P&J Live, performing there at the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year Awards in 2019.
Emeli Sande said bringing Eurovision to Aberdeen would show people what the north-east had to offer and that she was “all for it”.
“Often people don’t get as far up as Aberdeen, so people could see what we have to offer,” she added.
Emeli Sande returns to Belladrum
Ms Sande performed in front of thousands on Belladrum‘s Garden Stage on the first night of the festival.
She said coming back felt like a “full circle” moment as she first played there 11 years ago.
“I feel great, it feels so nice to be back in Scotland for one, especially to be back at this festival because it’s like a full circle,” she said.
She added: “To come back now and be doing the main stage and performing in front of a Scottish crowd means to much to me.”
Talking about why she loves the festival, she said: “I love the atmosphere, you’ve got such a wide mix of artists starting out then artists further on in their career, it feels like there’s such a true appreciation of music which you don’t always get.”
