One of the most popular car shows in the north-east was back on Sunday for the first time since Covid.

The Grampian Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club’s (JEC) Annual Gathering and Car Show was held on the south lawn at Drum Castle.

Crammed full with strawberries and cream, Aberdeenshire sunshine and sleek Jaguars lining the lawn, its return was much welcomed.

Treasurer Stuart Ellis said although it had been quieter than usual this year, it was “really nice to be back”.

He added: “It was great to be back, quite a few of the members said that as well. They haven’t really been able to get their cars out on display for the last two or three years. So it’s been really good.

“Unusually we didn’t have any rain. Normally on a Jaguar weekend it rains so we had really good weather.

“We had cars there from the 1930s, right up to the 2020s and had 54 Jaguars on display so the lawn was pretty full at the back of Drum Castle.”

The Westhill resident said the Gordon Highlanders Association pipe band was also performing at the event and Peter Vardy has offered a weekend with a selected Jaguar as a grand prize for the raffle.

He said: “We have to thank Peter Vardy Jagger for their input for bringing cars along and a couple of staff, which is really good.”

The show also raises money for charities which this year is AberNecessities. Although Mr Ellis has not yet counted the funds raised, he said he believed it would be around ÂŁ1,500-ÂŁ2,000.

Here are a few of our favourite photos from the day:

Around 54 cars were on display.
Mr Ellis said a lot of the owners enjoyed being able to display their cars again.
The sun was out for a change during the event.
The oldest model was from the mid-1930s.
Prizes were given to car owners for vehicles from each decade.
One of the prizes was also given out by some of the wives who would choose their favourite car on display.
The event has been held at Drum Castle nearly every year.
A prize was also given out for the car with the highest mileage and for those who travelled furthest to the show.
The first show was held in 2020.

The Gordon Highlanders pipe band also played a few turns during the day.
Peter Vardy brought along five cars for the show and offered a grand prize for the raffle of using a Jaguar for a weekend.
A lot of the car’s engines were also on display.
The car show also raises money for charity. This year the money raised is going to AberNecessities.
The day also featured an informal Concours competition, bottle stalls and a raffle.
The event is one of Drum Castle’s busiest days of the year.
Car enthusiasts attend from Deeside and beyond.
This year the show celebrated the 21st anniversary of its inception.
