Three Fittie neighbours teamed up to host the Fabulous Fittie Fashion Festival to champion female entrepreneurs from Aberdeen and raise funds for an ADHD charity.
Laura Mears-Reynolds joined forces with Gray’s School of Art student Dawn Farmer and Lesley Anne Rose, co-founder of Open Road – a north-east company dedicated to developing and mentoring creative talent in the region.
Laura said she was inspired to organise the anti fast-fashion event after she saw Zandra Rhodes’ 50 Years of Fabulous exhibition at Aberdeen Art Gallery back in February.
“I happened to bump into Dame Zandra Rhodes – she was literally on my doorstep in Fittie,” said Laura.
“It’s fantastic to be able to carry on Zandra’s Aberdeen fashion mission.”
Ms Rhodes previously told the P&J she wanted her Aberdeen fans to help keep fashion alive – you can read our interview with the influential designer here.
We dropped by the Fittie Community Hall to see jewellery maker Aubin Stewart, upcycling creator Lucia Gasparidesova as well as organiser Laura whose business Hathor sells attention-grabbing festival accessories.
Our photographer Kami Thomson went along to the event earlier today (Saturday August 20) to capture the atmosphere and catch fashion-lovers as they enjoy the one-day extravaganza in the heart of Fittie.
Take a look to see if you recognise anyone, or maybe even yourself…
