Officers from Turriff’s community policing team have been cracking down on anti-social driving in the area.
Several vehicles were stopped during an operation on January 16 and 17 and a dozen drivers were charged with motoring offences.
Four speeding tickets were handed out, including three to motorists on the A947 Aberdeen to Banff road.
One driver travelling was caught travelling at 87mph, while another was reported for dangerous driving.
The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency also issued prohibition notices to four drivers whose vehicles have mechanical defects.
The notices have immediate effect.
Sergeant Lorraine Mackie said: “Our local community have made it clear that anti-social driving is a concern in the area.
“We have listened and this operation is one of the ways by which we hope to tackle the problem.
“The number of motorists that have been caught speeding, charged with other offences, or had their vehicle taken off the road due to mechanical defects, demonstrates that Police Scotland will respond directly to community concerns.
“I would like to take this opportunity to remind people that it is important that you keep your vehicle mechanically sound, have suitable tyres fitted and drive according to the road and weather conditions.”
Sgt Mackie added that she intends to run a similar operation in the near future.
