The top law official at Aberdeen City Council is leaving the local authority “by mutual consent” later this year.
Jane MacEachran, head of legal and democratic services, will leave the council on April 6.
Announcing her departure last night, an Aberdeen City Council spokesman said: “Jane MacEachran, the head of legal and democratic services, and the council have agreed that Jane will leave the council by mutual consent on April 6, 2015, after 26 years’ dedicated service.
“The council wishes to place on record its sincere thanks and appreciation to Jane, who has worked tirelessly on its behalf over her time with us.
“She leaves with our best wishes and we wish her well in all her future endeavours.
“The council is immediately putting in place a process to recruit to the vacancy created by Jane’s departure.”
Ms MacEachran has been a solicitor since 1976 and has served on the council of the Law Society of Scotland since 2002.
A former city solicitor, she stayed on in the new role of head of legal and democratic services following a major shake-up of managerial posts in 2010 and has advised the local authority on a number of major decisions.
