Laurencekirk residents asked to speak up on new sports centre plans

Residents of a north-east town are being asked to speak up on plans for a new sports centre in their area.
Aberdeenshire Council has team up with Sportscotland for the Laurencekirk initiative and is holding a consultation evening at Mearns Community Campus on Monday at 7pm.
Ron McKail, vice-chairman of the council’s education, learning and leisure committee, urged anyone with an interest in sporting activities in the Laurencekirk area to attend.
“All clubs share similar challenges and the aim of a community sports hub would be to provide support and assistance which can only help improve the services clubs provide their members in the community,” he said.
“Groups will be able to work together to develop and create new opportunities – whether it is the introduction of new sports or the development and realisation of the full potential of facilities already available.”
