Oil firm Pipeline Technique Ltd has applied for the building at its headquarters at Steven Road so it can better inspect wells. Athol Cobban, project manager at the company, said the new venture “could potentially” create more jobs at the site. He said: “It’s basically being built so we can do our radiography on site instead of sending the wells to various locations in the UK. “When you break a bone you get it x-rayed to find out where it’s broken and it’s essentially the same process with wells. “More jobs could potentially be created if it is approved by the council.”
