Councillors who voted in favour of a contentious development for Aberdeen city-centre could be publicly grilled at a third demonstration against the plans.
Next weekend’s rally against Muse Development’s £107million plans for Marischal Square looks likely to be the biggest yet, drawing in campaigners from various protest groups.
Last night, organiser Lorna McHattie said she hoped Aberdeen City Council leader Jenny Laing, finance convener Willie Young and planning convener Ramsay Milne would all attend.
The Labour councillors were among the 23 who voted in favour of the plans, and Mrs McHattie wants them to answer public concerns about the development at the event.
The rally will be held on Saturday, February 14, at 1pm outside Marischal College.
The last protest – at the same location on January 24 – attracted hundreds of objectors who called on the council to reassess the plans.
Mrs McHattie, said next weekend’s rally was intended to “keep the pressure” on the local authority.
She said: “This is about pulling all the protesters and organisations together. The drummers have agreed to come back and hopefully that will draw people in.
“We have invited Willie Young, Jenny Laing and Ramsay Milne to come and speak to us about their decision to approve the development.
“There are questions we need answered. What the council want is for us to go away, but I don’t see that happening.”
Last night Mr Young said he would be respond to Mrs McHattie in due course.
“We have got her invitation and will reply to her shortly,” he said.
